Download and install system updates without a workshop visit

What has long been commonplace in smartphones is now also being used in buses/touring coaches: the transfer and installation of system updates for vehicles via the mobile phone network at a specified time – so that they're available immediately without you having to visit a workshop. All this will be made possible by a new "Over-the-Air Updates" service. This feature will initially be introduced for the eIntouro and then made available for Mercedes-Benz and Setra-branded buses/touring coaches with new B2Ece electronics architecture in the future.

Fast, easy, safe
The new “Over-the-Air Updates” service in OMNIplus ON advance not only saves you time, but also ensures that you always keep your buses/touring coaches up to date. Software updates ensure greater security, seamless operation and always up-to-date functionality. The fact that data will be transmitted via the mobile phone network means that the usual workshop visits to install system updates will no longer be necessary in future. This not only simplifies the process of updating your system, but also improves the vehicle availability of your fleet.

Over-the-air updates: How it works:
If a software update is available for a vehicle registered in the system, you will receive a corresponding message in OMNIplus ON. You can now approve the transfer for each vehicle individually in OMNIplus ON and specify the desired time for the installation. For safety reasons, the new software can only be installed when the vehicle is stationary, the parking brake is applied and drive-ready state is switched off. An ideal time for installing system updates is during breaks or at the depot at night, for example.

Availability and other features
The over-the-air updates are available for all buses and coaches of the Mercedes-Benz and Setra brands that are equipped with the new electronics architecture, which is being used for the first time in the eIntouro. Later, it will also be possible to activate additional vehicle functionalities and adapt vehicle configurations over the air.
